Eileen & Jacob
First of all, I want to acknowledge what a gorgeous, intimate and sweet wedding Eileen and Jacob had. Their celebration was nothing short of authentic beauty in all arenas and I’m so happy that I was able to be a part of their day. Their generosity of spirit and kindness was made so evident in the days leading up to and since their wedding day. Secondly, I’d like to address my gratitude for my peers in the wedding photography community: I’d been looking forward to working with Eileen and Jacob for months. But three days before the wedding I received a dreaded phone call from my family letting me know that my aunt had passed away unexpectedly. In the midst of the shock and grief, my wife and I jumped in the car and began the 12 hour drive to Michigan to be with family. Thinking that I’d be unable to work Eileen and Jacob’s wedding due to logistics, I began to call around to my friends and colleagues to see if anyone was available on such short notice. Unsurprisingly, not many were, but all bent over backwards and pooled their own resources to find options for Eileen and Jacob. I was and continue to be overwhelmed with the camaraderie that showed up in the midst of tragedy. As it turned out, I was still able to fly out the day of the wedding and be back the following morning, but I can’t thank my photography peers enough for their time and effort, and my clients Eileen and Jacob for their understanding and grace–it was much appreciated and much noticed. Here’s to lightening each other’s burdens.
